Keryn Cunningham
Owner, Wag On Wheels
Originally from New Zealand, Keryn grew up surrounded by family pets, many of whom were rescues. From a young age, she learned to form bonds with a variety of different animals and the importance of reading body language, reciprocating love and affection, and providing a safe haven for them.
In 2006, Keryn and her family moved to California, USA. While it was an exciting time, Keryn also struggled with adjusting to a new culture and meeting new peers. Constantly seeking new and rewarding activities to fill her schedule, Keryn was thrilled to discover Fairmont Animal Shelter. Her love for animals and desire to give back finally collided, and she immediately decided to volunteer at the shelter on a daily basis.
Even after beginning full-time work, Keryn couldn’t imagine her life without being surrounded by animals. She decided to enroll with numerous dog-walking and pet-sitting companies in California and began regularly picking up additional work outside of her 40-hour work week.
After working in corporate America for 11 years, Keryn decided to take a chance and turn her dreams of working with animals into a reality by creating Wag On Wheels!
Over the past 10 years, Keryn has proudly served pets and their families throughout Southern California, building her experience in professional pet care, dog walking, sitting, training, and rescue.
Now, Keryn is excited to begin a new chapter in Franklin, Tennessee. After years in Southern California, she was drawn to Franklin in search of a slower pace of life, a stronger sense of community, and the warmth of Southern hospitality.
While the location has changed, her passion for animals remains the same. Keryn is excited to bring her years of experience, dedication, and genuine love for animals to the Franklin community and continue providing the same personalized, compassionate care that her clients have trusted her with for years. 🐾❤️
Training Background:
Once she began her own business in pet care, Keryn quickly noticed a recurring pattern of the struggle between dogs and their owners, i.e. the inability to effectively communicate and understand one another. Watching the stress, chaos and ongoing behavioral issues that put both the owner and the dog at jeopardy, Keryn was motivated to study and pursue a certification in training.
Whether they are puppies needing training and guidance, or older pups trying to overcome issues stemming from past traumas, aggressive behavior, fear, lack of socialization, etc., Keryn is here to help. Her number one goal is to create a language and building structure that can be understood by both human and dog.
